BSB50201 FULL TIME OVERVIEW

GENERAL COURSE DESCRIPTION
Those wanting to be involved in the business and office administration environment need to be able to address issues strategically, analytically, creatively and interpersonally.  The Diploma of Business Administration will assist students by developing the knowledge and skills required to do this, and to make self-directed decisions regarding equipment, services and techniques.

BSBADMA502A – Manage Meetings
The course covers the preparation of meetings, chairing meetings, organising the minutes and reporting outcomes.

The course content enables the student to demonstrate understanding of a broad knowledge base incorporating both the theoretical and practical aspects of managing meetings.

BSBADMA503A – Plan and Manage Conferences
The course covers planning, promoting and coordinating conferences, ensuring follow up procedures are incorporated.

The course content enables the student to demonstrate understanding of a broad knowledge base incorporating both the theoretical and practical aspects of planning and managing conferences.

BSBADM504A – Plan or Review Administrative Systems
The course covers planning and/or reviewing the requirements of effective administration systems and procedures for implementing, monitoring and reviewing the system.

BSBCMN505A – Manage Payroll
The course provides both practical and theoretical knowledge and understanding of the various aspects of managing payroll in an organisation.

The course content covers the establishment and monitoring of security procedures related to managing payroll services and the calculation and processing of salary payments, group taxation and related payments.

BSBADMA506A – Manage Business Documentation Design and Development
The course covers setting standards for organisational documents and managing document design and production to meet the standards.

The course content establishes document standards; manages template design and development; develops standard text for documents; develops and implements strategies to ensure the use of standard documentation and develops and implements strategies for maintenance and continuous improvement of standard documentation.

You must complete both the following 2 units listed below:

BSBFLM507B – Manage Quality Customer Service
The course will assist you to develop and enhance the skills required to be an effective and capable frontline manager.

The course content covers the development of strategies to manage organisational systems that ensure products and services are delivered and maintained to standards agreed by the organisation and the customer.

BSBFLM512A – Ensure Team Effectiveness
The course specifies the outcomes required by frontline managers to facilitate all aspects of team work within the organisation. It involves taking a leadership role in the development of team plans, leading and facilitating team work and actively engaging with the management of the organisation.

The course content will develop competence in the participant’s ability to demonstrate leadership in developing plans, in leading and facilitating team work and in actively engaging with stakeholders.

You must choose one of the following units:

BSBCMN409A – Promote Products and Services
The course examines three important concepts in promoting products and services. How to plan for an effective promotion, coordinate and implement the plan and how to review and report on a promotional activity.

The course content covers the strategic planning and the conceptual issues involved in promotional goals and objectives as well as the importance of identifying target markets and developing an action plan. Exploring the process of coordinating a promotional activity will include specific tasks, networks, personnel and resources along with the practical tasks. Analysing the performance of the action plan will incorporate checking out areas for improvement, ideas for future directions, costs and timelines as well as the preparation of reports.

OR

BSBSBM403A – Promote the Business
The course covers the development and implementation of marketing strategies and the monitoring and improvement of market performance. It is suitable for setting up or existing micro and small business or a department in a larger organisation.

The course content includes developing and implementing marketing strategies and monitoring and improving marketing performance.

QUALIFICATION DETAILS
On completion of the course students will receive a Diploma of Business Administration. The course length and cost is detailed below.

TEACHING METHODS
The content for the Diploma of Business Administration will be delivered by a variety of teaching methods to enable all students to achieve their optimum potential.   Methods include lectures, tutorials, use of computer technology

(including CD Roms, and the internet), field trips, industry visits and guest speakers). Smaller classes and more one-on-one contact between teachers and students will allow more individual attention.

ASSESSMENT METHODS
Various assessment methods are used again to enable all students to achieve their optimum potential. Methods include Exams, Case Studies, Assignments, Interactive Presentations and Development of Portfolios.

BRISBANE COMMERCIAL COLLEGE FACILITIES
Brisbane Commercial College has well equipped classrooms, containing adequate desks and chairs, whiteboards. All fittings have recently been updated to ensure a comfortable learning environment.

Brisbane Commercial College uses the latest in educational equipment to maximise student learning. Audio-visual equipment is heavily utilised, including TV’s, DVD players, data projectors, and computers.

Students have access to a computer learning centre, use of CD rom’s, and a library which holds traditional learning resources. Students also have Internet and email access.

Our training staff are highly qualified, with recent and varied experiences in the corporate world, ensuring that their training is both relevant and meaningful.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning means that a student may be able to receive recognition for any previous learning they have done, regardless of where or how they acquired the learning. For example, you may have completed a certificate at a TAFE College, or you may have acquired these skills through work, or even hobbies, you can apply to get credit for these skills.

How can RPL help me?
You may be able to shorten your course, or go on to more advanced lessons rather than waste time learning skills you already have.

What kind of information can be used for RPL?

  • Students can supply copies of results for courses they have done
  • Students can submit a portfolio with samples of their work and references detailing previous skills or experience
  • Even if students are unable to supply any of this information, they are still eligible to undertake testing to assess their skills.

How to apply for RPL?
Students can obtain an ‘Application for Recognition of Prior Learning Form’ from Brisbane Commercial College.

CREDIT TRANSFER
Students may be entitled to a credit transfer in the following circumstances:

  1. Successful RPL application
  2. Study completed at another institution

Students should contact the College for more information about credit transfers. Approved applicants will be required to show all necessary documentation.

ADMISSION REQUIRMENTS
(MINIMUM  ACADEMIC AND ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS)
Both minimum academic and English entry requirements must be met to gain admission to Brisbane Commercial College courses.

Brisbane Commercial College requires international students to possess an appropriate level of English language proficiency before commencing study. To ensure that this is the case applicants are required to demonstrate that
they have met the English requirements necessary to complete the course.

  • Completion of Australian Year 12 or its equivalent

Or

  • Applicants who are not current school-leavers may apply on the basis of qualifications and/or achievements such as: Previous Year 12 qualification
  • Previous tertiary study
  • Employment experience
  • TAFE qualifications
  • IELTS 5.5
  • TEFL 525/195 or equivalent
  • Sound Achievement in English (Year 12 International Students)
  • On successful completion of Upper Intermediate or above

OVERSEAS STUDENT HEALTH COVER
All international students are required to pay a medical insurance charge to the Australian Government as a condition of their student visa. The Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) enables students to access free public hospital care for non-elective treatment and 85% rebate of a standard doctor’s fees.

Brisbane Commercial College provides Academic and Welfare Advisors to assist you in succeeding in your studies and your life in Australia.

To encourage students to interact with others, and to enjoy Australia while they are here, they can also join in social activities and outings organised for them by the College.

There are dedicated student areas within the College containing meal and study facilities.

BRISBANE COMMERCIAL COLLEGE REFUND POLICY

This policy is compliant with the ESOS Act 2000 and the ESOS Regulations 2001.

REFUNDS WILL BE GRANTED IF:

  • the course has been cancelled by Brisbane Commercial College;
  • the course does not commence on the agreed starting day;
  • a student’s visa has been rejected, less a $250 Administration Fee after receiving a copy of the letter from the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) regarding visa rejection;
  • a student withdraws for any reason more than 28 days before the commencement of the program, less an Administration Charge of 10% of the first semester’s fees;
  • a student withdraws less than 28 days before the commencement of the program, less and Administration Charge of 20% of the first semester’s fees;
  • when illness or disability prevents the students from taking up the program;
  • when death of a close family member (parent, sibling, spouse or child) occurs; or
  • when other special or extenuating circumstances prevent the students from taking up the program, and which may be accepted for a full of partial refund at the discretion of the Manager, or their nominee, provided a submission under this provision is made to B.C.C. prior to the commencement of the program.

REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GRANTED IF:

  • the student withdraws after the commencement of the course
  • the student’s visa is cancelled by DIMIA whilst onshore
  • the student is excluded from continuing their studies at Brisbane Commercial College

Terms and Conditions of Refund

  1. Requestsmust be made in writing and accompanied with supporting evidence. B.C.C. reserves the right to request further documentation/supporting evidence where necessary.
  2. Approved refunds will be sent to
    1. the student’s home country (if paid personally);
    2. repaid to the individual (other than the student); or
    3. agent/organisation who paid the student’s fees.
  3. Refund will be paid within two (2) weeks from the date of the approval being granted

Refund Grievance Procedure

  1. Enquiries regarding refund calculations must be made in writing to the Accounts Manager.
  2. Students, parents/legal guardians or a nominee have up to 30 days to lodge a formal grievance from the date they receive the remittance advice of their refund. This must be done in writing and addressed to the Accounts Manager. The Accounts Manager will consider the formal grievance. After consideration of al the available evidence, the Accounts Manager may decide to (a) uphold the grievance and issue a refund of the appropriate amount, or (b) dismiss the grievance.
  3. If the grievance is not resolved to the satisfaction of the student, parents/legal guardians or nominee, a copy of the written complaint together with the reasons for the grievance should be forwarded to the Directors for review.

This policy does not remove the right to take further action under Australia’s consumer protection laws.
