Recognition Of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning means that a student may be able to receive recognition for any previous learning they have done, regardless of where or how they acquired the learning. For example, you may have completed a certificate at a TAFE College, or you may have acquired these skills through work, or even hobbies, you can apply to get credit for these skills.

How can RPL help me?
You may be able to shorten your course, or go on to more advanced lessons rather than waste time learning skills you already have.

What kind of information can be used for RPL?

  • Students can supply copies of results for courses they have done
  • Students can submit a portfolio with samples of their work and references detailing previous skills or experience
  • Even if students are unable to supply any of this information, they are still eligible to undertake testing to assess their skills.

How to apply for RPL?
Students can obtain an ‘Application for Recognition of Prior Learning Form’ from Brisbane Commercial College.

Credit Transfer

Students may be entitled to a credit transfer in the following circumstances:
  1. Successful RPL application
  2. Study completed at another institution

Students should contact the College for more information about credit transfers. Approved applicants will be required to show all necessary documentation.
