Brisbane Commercial College Refund Policy

This policy is compliant with the ESOS Act 2000 and the ESOS Regulations 2001. 

Refunds are only granted in accordance with the Refund Policy:

  • Student default
    A full refund may be available to student if the student cancels an enrolment with the College no later than 28 days prior to commencement of the course. The request to cancel an enrolment, or a request for a refund, MUST be made in writing to the College. Any refund payable will be paid directly to the person who originally paid the course fees. For refunds made payable overseas, bank charges deducted will be born by the student. All monies due, will be refunded within 4 weeks of the date the College receives the written request from the student.

  • Cancellation Due to Visa Rejections:
    All course fees are refunded, after deducting the Enrolment Fee, if a visa application is rejected and the applicant provides a copy of the refusal letter from the Australian Embassy or High Commission.

  • Cancellation Due to Reasons other than Visa Rejections:
    All course fees are refunded, less the Enrolment Fee and Homestay Placement Fee (if applicable), if the student notifies the College in writing of the cancellation, at least 28 days prior to the course commencement date. Notification of such cancellation will incur an additional deduction of the enrolment administration charge.

  • A partial refund may be available to a student if the student cancels an enrolment with the College less than 28 days prior to the commencement of the course. The request to cencel an enrolment, or a request for a refund, MUST be made in writing to the College. Any refund payable will be paid directly to the person who originally paid the course fees. For refunds made payable overseas, bank charges deducted will be born by the student. All monies due, will be refunded within 4 weeks of the date the College receives the written request from the student.

  • Cancellation On or After Course Commencement Date:
    No refund or transfers will be given if student cancels an enrolment on or after the commencement date. No refund or transfers will be given if the College cancels a student's enrolment due to unsatisfactory attendance or unacceptable behaviour.

  • College Default
    If the College is not able to provide the scheduled course on the agreed starting day, or the College ceases to provide the course at any time before the course in completed; or if there are any other College defaults that cannot be recovered by this written agreement, such situations are covered by the provisions of the ESOS Act 2000 and the ESOS Regulations 2001.

Terms and Conditions of Refund

  1. Requests must be made in writing and accompanied with supporting evidence.  The College reserves the right to request further documentation/supporting evidence where necessary.
  2. Approved refunds will be sent to
    1. the student’s home country (if paid personally);
    2. repaid to an individual (other than the student); or
    3. agent/organisation who paid the student’s fees.
  3. Refund will be paid within two (2) weeks from the date of the approval being granted.

Refund Complaint Procedure

  1. Enquiries regarding refund calculations must be made in writing to the Accounts Manager.
  2. Students, parents/legal guardians or a nominee have up to 30 days to lodge a formal complaint from the date they receive the remittance advice of their refund.  This must be done in writing and addressed to the Accounts Manager.  The Accounts Manager will consider the formal complaint.  After consideration of al the available evidence, the Accounts Manager may decide to (a) uphold the complaint and issue a refund of the appropriate amount, or (b) dismiss the complaint.
  3. If the complaint is not resolved to the satisfaction of the student, parents/legal guardians or nominee, a copy of the written complaint together with the reasons for the complaint should be forwarded to the Directors for review.
This policy does not remove the right to take further action under Australia’s consumer protection laws.
